I am sharing this popular hat ” Messy Bun Hat or Ponytail hat” , this pattern is very easy to follow and uses simple stitches,

This hat is made of double crochet, I have added two rows of Front post double crochet, to add texture to the hat.

About this pattern,

It is beginner level. It starts from to crown all the way down. Overall length is 8.5 inches,2 inches are for the brim, It is made mostly of double crochet stitches.

Materials

Hook 4.5 mm
Yarn needle
Yarn (I am using Bernat Premium)

Stitches/ abbreviations

Ch – chain
Ss – slip stitch
Sc – single crochet
Dc – single crochet
FPDC- front post double crochet

Instructions

Chain 36
Round 1: *2 dc into the same stitch, dc into the next 2 stitches * around. SS to the top of the first dc. Ch 2. (48)
Round 2: *2 dc into the same stitch, dc into the next 3 stitches* around. SS to the top of the first dc. Ch 2. (60)

Round 3: *2 dc into the same stitch, dc into the next 4 stitches* around. SS to the top of the first dc. Ch 2. (72)Round 4: *2 dc into the same stitch, dc into the next 5 stitches* around. SS to the top of the first dc. Ch 2. (84). At this point , the circle measures around 18 cms/7 inches. So I stop increasing.
Round 5 : *Fpdc, dc * around. SS to the top of the first dc. Ch 2. (84)
Round 6,7 : Dc into each stich around. SS to the top of the first dc. Ch 2. (84)
Round 8 : *Fpdc, dc * around. SS to the top of the first dc. Ch 2. (84)
Round 8 : *Fpdc, dc * around. SS to the top of the first dc. Ch 2. (84)
Round 9,10,11 : Dc into each stitch around. SS to the top of the first dc. Ch 2. (84)
Ribbed End:.For this hat.I will chain 6 plus 1,Chain 7.Slip stitch in the 2nd chain from the hook (Back loop only)Slip stitch into the next 5 stitches (Going towards the hat you will work 5 stitches) Total stitches on your brim minus one (In this case 5)Single crochet into the next 2 stitches in the hat… turn your work.Slip stitch into next 6 stitches (Back loop Only), chain 1.Slip stitch into the next 5 stitches.Single crochet into the next 2 stitches.Occasionally, I check the number of stitches to make sure I haven’t skipped stitches.Slip stitch into next 6 stitches, chain 1.Single crochet into the next 2 stitches.Repeat all the way around, close with Single crochet.
